Hello Everyone! Let's harness and unleash our creative power and see what we are capable of creating!
This is my 16th week of writing this weekly blog, and it has been quite healing for me. It opened doors I didn't even know existed, mostly because I opened my mind and heart to receive something new and more. My life now looks different than when I wrote week 1 of the journal prompt on July 23, about three and a half months ago.
Looking back, it has become obvious that life doesn't change overnight when we are trying to change from within. It is these incremental steps that culminate into a big wave of change. Starting anything new is like trying to push a heavy locomotive. At first, it will not budge, but when you are ready to give up, you feel something move a bit. After working on it for a while, it gains momentum, and one day it starts going on its own without pushing. You feel the speed picking up and now you are just letting it take you wherever you are meant to be.
We, humans, are all creative by nature. We are here to create, and our creativity is our superpower. Sometimes feelings of obligation, responsibility, lack of self-esteem, and low self-confidence can block the flow of creativity, and make us believe that we are not good enough. Those voices are strong enough to stop us from starting anything new and creative many times. But sometimes, we just have to push through those negative voices and do it anyway. As we do it again and again, we eventually realize that our worst-case scenarios are just a bunch of lies, and it's not as bad as we thought to create something new and forge our path in uncharted territories.
And this leads to this week's journal topic:
List all things you love to create - it can be something very creative like composing music or writing poems, to something mundane, like making the perfect scrambled eggs. Write down how creating those things makes you feel. Let's tap into your love and passion you have for expressng your creativity.
For example, I love drawing, cooking, and meditating, so I would list items like artwork, drawing, home-baked artisan bread, and holding a healing space for myself and others. Then I would start writing about how I feel when I create them:
I love art, especially in 2D form because, on this white blank piece of paper, I get to create a whole new world. I can fully express myself in any form or matter, create depth by manipulating the value, and add life to the subject using vibrant colors.
Cooking and baking are pure magic for me - using what came straight from Mother Earth, I get to tinker with it like a mad scientist to create something wholesome, tasty, and nutritious for everyone.
Holding space for healing is probably the most valuable thing I get to create, and though it is not tangible, I see the effect in so many different ways. When I hold a safe space, I feel like I am taking a vacation from my life where I get to explore what it means to be authentic and give total acceptance of myself and others.
That little spark you feel when you create, also known as passion, is the fuel that makes the locomotive go. By tapping into the feeling of being creative, you get to nurture your passions. When we start something new, it is like starting a small kindling in the darkness. Focus on the kindling to make it a bigger fire. Because soon, you won't even remember how dark it was when you first started it.
Some of you might feel that you have nothing to write. Try listing things you are curious about, then write why you are curious about these things. This will kick start your process of unleashing your creativity because curiosity feeds into passion, and passion feeds your creativity.
We all have this amazing superpower called creativity. Let's unleash it and see what we are capable of creating!
