Colored pencil class at Tanigawa Studio

Class Policies &
Guidelines

Everything you need to know to make the most of your time in class

I’m so glad you’ll be joining me for colored pencil art classes! Whether you're a first-time student or returning for another round of creativity, please take a moment to review the policies below.

Parents—if your child is attending, I kindly ask that you read through these together.
As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

You’re welcome to register for classes without committing to a full semester or paying a registration fee. However, advance registration is required for all sessions—no walk-ins, please.

  • Single Session: $38 (2-hour class)

  • 4-Session Package: $132 total ($33 per class)
Valid for use within 2 months of purchase

*Please note: No refunds or credits are offered for open session purchases.

Open Enrollment Sessions

Tuition is due on the first day of each month, even if you're absent that day.
Payments are handled through my class scheduling site. If you’d prefer to pay by check or cash, please email me at least 48 hours before the first class of the month.

Mailing address for checks:
Tanigawa Studio
10145 Coolidge Dr.
McKinney, TX 75072

  • A $10 late fee applies if tuition is not received within 48 hours of the first class.

  • If payment is not received by the second class, your spot may be forfeited.

  • Partial payments are not accepted. Repeated late payments may result in the loss of your class spot.

Tuition Payment

I know life gets busy! I’ll do my best to accommodate schedule changes when possible.

  • If you know in advance that you'll miss a class, please let me know before the last Monday of the month to discuss a make-up or tuition adjustment.

  • For last-minute schedule changes, I ask for 48 hours' notice. Make-up credits are valid for 30 days.

  • For illness or emergencies, please notify me before class begins.

*All make-up sessions must be arranged in advance via email.
*Please don’t show up unannounced—some classes may be full.
*No-call/no-shows or messages sent during or after class are not eligible for make-ups or credit.

Missed Classes & Make-Ups

  • No refunds for classes or commissioned artwork.

  • Refunds for art reproductions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Note: Payment processing fees (approx. 4%) are non-refundable.

Refund Policy

If I need to cancel a class, I’ll notify you via email, ideally at the beginning of the month whenever possible.
Please make sure to check your email regularly for updates.

In the case of a last-minute cancellation, I may also send a text message.

*Please reply to the text to confirm you’ve received the message.

Your class fee will be prorated or credited accordingly.

Class Cancellation

If weather conditions make travel unsafe, I’ll contact you via email or text at least 2 hours before class.
If you're traveling from outside McKinney, please use your best judgment and let me know if you can’t attend safely.

Inclement Weather

Some classes include students as young as 10, so let’s all help create a focused, respectful environment:

  • Keep language and conversation appropriate for all ages.

  • Music is welcome via headphones, but please stick to PG-rated content.

  • Devices may be used for reference photos or music, but avoid games, social media, and unrelated texting.

  • Students may text parents for pickup coordination, but screen use should be mindful and limited.

Reference Photos:
Please come to class prepared with your supplies and a printed reference photo.
If you're starting a new project, brainstorm and print your image at home. While I do have some books available, students often spend too much class time browsing and end up settling for a “meh” choice. Let’s use our creative time wisely!

Breaks:
School-aged students may take brief stretching or restroom breaks, but must remain inside the classroom for safety.

Class Conduct & Expectations

Thank you for being thoughtful, prepared, and respectful of our shared creative space.
I look forward to making beautiful art together!

— Noriko
